Welcome to Lesson Two of How to Be a Channel. The audio above is a meditation to help move you into a place to receive your Automatic Writing.
If you missed Lesson One you can check it out here. This FREE course will be running for 12 weeks. A new lesson will drop each Thursday. Click subscribe so you don’t miss a lesson!
What you call automatic writing springs from a deep, inner listening.
A listening that you are currently unused to. A type of listening that you may never have consciously done before. But you did it as a child. This channel was open then, and can be opened again now.
Truthfully, it has never been closed. You simply stopped listening to it, convinced as you were by the outside world that it did not exist, that it was merely your imagination.
So much wisdom that children present naturally is blocked by adults who have forgotten themselves what wisdom is, what the voice of Love sounds like. Know that it is merely a forgetting and nothing to be bothered about, for today is a day of remembering.
First, we want you to know, and believe, that this voice belongs to your inner world and your inner world is vaster, is greater, is more ‘real’ than your outer world. It is through this inner world that you can connect with, and draw forth, your wisdom, your guidance. What you are seeking to bring forth as a channel lives in this space.
So, finding this inner landscape and learning its terrain again is important.
Secondly, you need to open to this wisdom, to this guidance. You need to open before you can receive it. So many of you simply wait. But your participation is required. Your opening to receive, your reaching to Us is important, is necessary, before we can flow to you.
This is why the word ‘channel’ is important. You need to create some sort of ‘channel,’ some sort of space, a river, if you will, something that we can then flow through. This link, this channel, between us always exists but your awareness, your participation, your willingness, is needed for us to be received.
This is why the suggestions in Lesson One were given. We offered you ways to begin to open and connect such as: meditation, being in nature, or creating something. These are all ways of making a channel. We urge you to keep doing this, to keep feeling your way forward for this eventual meeting.
This week we encourage you to continue seeking and finding ways that produce in you a feeling of peace, of opening, of sensing something greater than you, something wonderous and peaceful.
Find that feeling. Connect with it daily. Perhaps while meditating try placing your attention at the crown of your head, or the space just above your head. Feel into that space, feel it opening. Or, if this does not feel natural, try concentrating on the heart area and feel it opening to the Love that is All.
Allow your self to come into that feeling. That feeling of being on the verge of something great and mysterious. It is a Loving place. Trust it. Trusts that guidance, wisdom and Love are here and are always available to you. Now and forever.
Once you have that feeling, even if you are not sure you have it, but you feel peaceful, reach for a pen and notebook (or place your fingers on your keyboard if that feels more natural) and open. Relax. Allow.
When you ‘hear’ words with your inner ear write them down. Do not think about what you are writing. Simply listen with your inner ear and jot down without thinking what you hear. Continue until the words end.
In the beginning the messages may be quite short. This is natural. The tap may be being turned on for the first time in a long while. Let what is there, flow.
This is You meeting Your Inner Wisdom.
This is You allowing Love to flow to You.
This is completely natural. You were born knowing this.
We love you so much,
Hello!
Both the letter above and the audio meditation are channeled, but now it is me, Lori.
What I most want to emphasize from the Dear Heart letter above is:
“What you call automatic writing springs from a deep, inner listening.
A listening that you are currently unused to. A type of listening that you may never have consciously done before. But you did it as a child. This channel was open then, and can be opened again now.”
I want you to know that everyone has the ability to channel. It is innate. It is natural.
This course is about reconnecting you with your innate and natural ability to be a channel so that you can connect with Source (or whatever your preferred name is for the Divine) and access your own inner guidance, wisdom and Love.
This week we are focusing on Automatic Writing because it is what most channelers begin with - including me.
My story, told very briefly, is that I spontaneously began doing automatic writing. I have always kept a journal and one day while journaling the words, “Dear Heart” appeared on the page, followed by a short, loving message. It was signed, “Love Soul”.
At the time, I was going through a rough patch in my life. The message (though slightly unnerving because it arrived quite unexpectedly) felt so warm and loving that I truly felt comforted by it.
A few more messages like it arrived spontaneously, then stopped. I didn’t receive another Dear Heart letter until five years later. But when they restarted, they did so in earnest. For the last year and a half I have been doing automatic writing almost every day. Sometimes, I receive several Dear Heart letters in a single day. And I have become a dedicated student of channeling.
I completely trust and believe that everyone can channel. Your way of channeling may be very different from mine but I absolutely know that you can channel.
If you’d like to try Automatic Writing here are a few tips to help get you started:
In the beginning, I found it much easier to connect and channel while outside in nature. I still often go outside to do automatic writing. I live on Vancouver Island, Canada, and like to walk to a nearby beach, sit on a log (nature’s desk!), take some deep breaths and let the words flow. Fun fact: I’ve decided to use my own photos at the top of the posts for these lessons, all taken in locations that I have done automatic writing, just in case there is a wee bit of magic in them that can be transferred from me to you.)
My next tip would be to try automatic writing while you are alone, or at least feel that it is unlikely you will be disturbed. I find that being able to relax is essential for channeling, especially in the beginning. I usually begin by taking a few deep breaths, then drawing my attention to the crown of my head. I imagine it opening and a column of golden light flowing down from above and into my heart. Then I usually ‘hear,’ or sense, a few words. As soon as I write these down the next few words arrive. The message continues in this way until it is complete.
This next tip is a fun exercise that might help you actually see the energy you are trying to connect with and receive a message from. Get a blank sheet of paper and draw a small black dot at the top. I make my dot about the size of my fingertip. Be sure to colour the dot in so that it is entirely black. (This exercise will not work if it is just an outline, it must be filled in entirely.) Now, look at the black dot, and soften your gaze. You may see light appear around the edge of your black dot. The light may move and grow bigger. People experience this in all sorts of ways. For some it shimmers and dances. For others it glows brighter and then dims. Give it a try. I see what looks like light peeking out around the edges of the dot. It shifts and moves the way I imagine the Northern Lights do. (If you have no success with the black dot exercise, try staring into the flame of a candle.) It’s exciting to get this visual confirmation of energy. When you see it, ask it for a message. Write your message down.
Mostly, try to relax and have fun with automatic writing. I’d love to hear about any experiences you have, or any messages you receive! Leave a comment below or message me.
Next Monday will be a regular Dear Heart Love Soul letter, and next Thursday will be Lesson Three of How to Be a Channel. Until then…
Peace & Love,

Great lesson. I know for me my biggest struggle was judging what I wrote. When you just write, not worrying if it’s “good” or not, it becomes so much more freeing. So much more of a holy communion. And what comes out of it is always so much greater than what you could imagine you were capable of.
I freaking love Substack! So exciting to find other channelers and hear about their practices. I just stumbled upon channeling too though microdosing. I had been writing down brief ideas that I got while watching videos on social media, on the spiritual side of Tiktok especially. One day I just wrote this whole channeled message that I titled Remember Who You Are. It is my first Substack post. It is a whole outline for how to heal and live. I knew it didn't come from my thinking brain because I was writing so fast and not thinking at all about what the next word would be. It just came. Now I channel messages every day. If I give my brain any silence, divine messages seem to come in. It's so fun and magical. I want to teach people this too.
